The Orion-Tr is an isolated DC-DC converter: its input and output are kept electrically separate, and it powers equipment from a battery system of a different voltage. It is short-circuit proof, units can be paralleled without limit for more output, and a remote on/off input means a small switch or the engine run/stop switch can control it instead of a heavy-current switch in the input wiring. Screw terminals make installation simple, with no special tools needed.
